MANILA, July 12, 2012— The Catholic hierarchy
has released the official hymn for the “New Evangelization” as the
Church embarked on a nine-year spiritual journey that culminates with
the great jubilee on 2021.

The song titled “Live Christ, Share the Eucharist”, was introduced to
the members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines
during their recent plenary meeting in Manila last Saturday.

Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas, CBCP vice president,
wrote the song’s lyrics while master musician Ryan Cayabyab composed the
music.

The country’s 86 dioceses and archdioceses have adopted the hymn,
which will be the marching song for the celebration of the 500th year of
Christianity in the Philippines on March 16, 2021.

Archbishop Villegas has previously written songs about the Our Lady of EDSA and about the late Jaime Cardinal Sin.

The CBCP has earlier released its new pastoral letter on the new
evangelization, which is also titled “Live Christ, Share the Eucharist.”

In the statement, the bishops committed themselves to evangelize the
country again to win back Filipinos who have broken away and joined
other churches.

They said that the journey toward 2021 is an opportunity for the
Church and its clergy to reflect on their failures and how they could
draw back people to the Catholic fold. [RL/CBCPNews]

( Mike Alcantara with Mark Rodney Vertido )
" border="0"/>Catholic Filipinos from across Nottingham flocked to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour on 28 May 2011 to attend Mass. This event was organised by the Filipino Rosary Crusade-Nottingham North (FRC). Pietro Albano, FRC Coordinator, read the Introduction before the Mass where he particularly welcomed kababayans especially Fr. Mariano Tarrosa, former Chaplain of the Filipino Chaplaincy in East Midlands, who concelebrated the Mass with Fr. Gerry Murphy, Parish Priest. Fr. Gerry welcomed all Filipinos and appreciated their participation.

A number of other Filipinos performed various roles in the liturgy: Digna Briones and Jean Amamio proclaimed the First and Second readings respectively while Ronald Abrera read the Prayer of the Faithful. Dianne and Jason Sulit, representing their family, were the offerors. Myrna Agana, Jude Amamio, Chris Provida, and Juliet Talanay served as collectors.

Right after the Mass, Fr. Mariano led devotees in praying the Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help. In his short talk, he encouraged Filipinos to continue being united and having that time for God. He said that by doing so, they would become good examples for their children. He also proposed that, even with a priest, they would gather regularly to pray the novena in church which contains “the lovely image of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour”. To conclude the service, Jona Estioso and Dianne Sulit led devotees in the floral offering as part of the Flores de Mayo tradition of Pinoys.

A salu-salo (shared table) was held at the Parish’s McGuinness Centre. This was coordinated by Meng Sulit and Precy Lagman. A presentation followed where the FRC sang “Diyos ay Pag-ibig” in honor of Fr. Mariano. In response, expressed his gratitude and enjoyment being with Pinoys in Bulwell. He picked up a few lines from the song that was sung (“At kung tayo’y bigo ay huwag limutin na may Diyos tayong nagmamahal.”; And if we fail, let us not forget that we have a God who loves.) and admitted that he could relate with these, considering the difficulties that has hindered him from continuing his ministry as chaplain. Yet he recalls that even Jesus was a failure, being reviled and crucified in spite of His good works. He asked everyone to continue praying for him and, at the same time, gave assurance that should he be able to stay further in the UK, he will carry on reaching out to Filipino communities. (Photos courtesy of Ronald Abrera and Pietro Albano)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20030658.post-80654915669364722582011-04-03T20:06:00.000-07:002011-04-04T03:15:08.724-07:00May Bagong Pastol Ang Gagalangin!Posted April 4, 2011, 11:00AM, Manila

Bakit itong Liham Pastoral?

Kapasyahang Moral sa Sangandaan – Sa EDSA I at Ngayon

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20030658.post-22104124710895986862010-11-01T08:14:00.000-07:002010-11-05T04:04:18.503-07:00Month-long Devotion Ends In StyleThe final day of October saw the Filipino Rosary Crusade-Nottingham North’s members attending Mass at the Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church in Bulwell. Their intention was included in the said Eucharistic celebration which was presided by Fr Paul Newman. Right after the Mass, a picture taking with the Parish Priest was held.

The group then went to the neighboring Poor Clare Monastery to pay a visit to Sr Annunciata, the lone Filipina nun in their monastery. A “Thank You” card as well as donations was handed over by Pietro Albano. Sr Annunciata accepted these in behalf of her congregation. Members were treated to some cakes and tea courtesy of the sisters.

At about 5:00pm, people slowly started to arrive at the Sulit Residence in Berwick Close. Children were dressed in Halloween costumes while most of the adults were dressed in white in response to the Night of Light’s initiative to claim back Halloween as a Christian tradition.

At about 5:30pm, Susan Sulit led the Rosary recitation. Jason, her son, assisted her by reading the Bible verses on each mystery. Marian songs were sung at the end of every decade. In the last sharing session, a number of members offered their views on “What have you learned in our month-long devotion?”

During the Moment of Silence, names of the faithful departed including Benjamina Valdes-Madamba, Anicia Andreus, Julita Magadia, Purificacion Montero, Leonara Tudara, and Dominga Viloria were remembered and prayed for. These were the women who have inspired Pietro in organising a Rosary Crusade in Nottingham.

After the singing of the “Ama Namin”, Pietro Albano delivered his Closing Message where he thanked the 15 families who have made the devotion a success. He compared the community to “scattered beads joined together like the beads of the Rosary singing ‘Ang puso ko’y nagpupuri’ or saying ‘Hail Mary full of grace’”.

Tokens of appreciation were given to the 15 families as well as Jona Estioso and Vangie Lagazo, 2 Filipinas who have taken part in the devotion even if their homes have not been visited just as yet by the pilgrim image. Specials awards were given to Jackie Rapada (“Perfect Attendance”) and Jason Sulit (“Most Promising Youth Member”).

To his surprise, Pietro was given a plaque of appreciation by all members. Precy Lagman read the contents of the plaque while everyone was standing. Pietro, who confessed to be allergic to awards, thanked everyone for their kindness.

Right after the Concluding Prayers, Pietro announced that the pilgrim image will stay with the Sulits until next year when the devotion is resumed. The community sang “Diyos ay Pag-ibig” as the Closing Hymn. A salu-salo was later shared by everyone. For their part, children participated in the traditional “Trick or Treat”.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20030658.post-83698652983597003852010-11-01T04:53:00.000-07:002010-11-05T02:58:04.151-07:00Pilgrim Image Visits 2010 Final DestinationOctober 28 was when the group’s Rosary recitation was held at the Talanay Residence. Juliet Talanay led in the prayers which were followed by a sharing facilitated by Pietro Albano. The topic focused on “What makes a good community?”; an appropriate topic as the Church remembered that day Saints Jude Thaddeus and Simon, Apostles of Jesus. Outstanding answers were noted such as “good leadership”, “unity of members”, “treating each other with respect”. Pietro encouraged members to read the first few chapters of the Acts of the Apostles to see how the early Church community worked. As a sign of unity, all participants held hands as they have done in previous Rosary recitations to say the Lord’s Prayer. They later walked to the Senir Residence on Berwick Close where the image was welcomed by Anna Senir.

The following night, Pietro announced that the Rosary will be offered for all the faithful departed since there are no Rosary recitations in November. He also informed members that a Filipino Chaplaincy in the East Midlands has recently been created. Fr Mariano Tarrosa, newly appointed Chaplain, will be saying Mass for Filipinos at the Nottingham Cathedral on 12th December 2010 at 6.00pm.

The Rosary was led by Anna. Members later discussed “As a Christian, what is your perception of death?” Stories were retold regarding the loss of a loved one and how members moved on full of hope in the Risen Lord. A Special Petition for the Holy Souls replaced the usual Petitions. The image was later brought to the Sulits; a stone’s throw away from the Senirs.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20030658.post-45045930451763629562010-10-27T03:14:00.000-07:002010-11-05T02:32:04.187-07:00Image In Old Basford Returns to BestwoodIn Old Basford, the image of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was handed over by Jude Amamio to the Provida Family on October 20, 2010. Mary Ann led the Welcome Prayer. Two days after, the group joined the family in praying the Sorrowful Mysteries. During the Reflection, people were asked “Which mystery of the Rosary could you relate with and why?” An interesting sharing was given by most participants drawing inspiration from a particular mystery and relating it with their personal experience. After salu-salo, the group processed to the Sarroza residence which is located right in front of Mary Ann’s house. Pedro Sarroza accepted the image from Chris Provida on behalf of his family.

The following Sunday, October 24, people congregated at the Sarrozas for the Rosary recitation which Pedro led. Group members made a sharing on “How do you persuade others to follow Christ?” in celebration of World Mission Sunday. Pietro Albano later made an appeal for the fundraising event in aid of Our Lady’s Parish Community Hall. Having spent a few days in Old Basford, the image was brought back to Arnside Road where it found a home at the Abrera Residence. Pedro handed over the image to Rachel Abrera while Ronald, her husband, read the Welcome Prayer.

October 26 was the night when the prayer meeting was held. Ronald led the Rosary. The topic for discussion was “How do you stay in love with your vocation?” A short meeting was also held in preparation for the Closing Event on October 31. From Arnside Road in Bestwood, the image was moved to the Talanays in Longmead Drive in Daybrook, the last area within the group’s scope to be visited by Our Lady’s image.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20030658.post-7948066791583393642010-10-25T01:26:00.000-07:002010-11-05T03:00:27.241-07:00Two More Bestwood Homes Welcome Mary’s ImageOn October 16, the Brioneses handed over Our Lady’s image to the De Leons at the latter’s home in Davies Way. Right after the Welcome Prayer, which was led by Ma’an De Leon, a round of applause was offered by members to the Brioneses and De Leons for hosting the Rosary recitation and welcoming the image respectively.

Two night later, The De Leons played host to the Rosary recitation which Ma’an led. As it was the feast of St Luke that day, the topic for sharing was “If I were a painter, what image of Mary will I paint and why?” Legend has it that apart from being a physician and writer, St Luke was also a painter. There was an interesting discussion that took place where most members shared and described their “painting” to others. To summarize, Pietro encouraged members to always bear in mind those images and share the message these images convey to others. The “Night of Light” initiative was also discussed which encourages Christians to reclaim the celebration of Halloween to its Christian roots. Suggestions on how to do this were mentioned. Prayers were followed by dinner before moving to the Amamios in Belconnen Road.

In spite of the drizzle and cold atmosphere, participants kept themselves warm in prayer and song.

October 20 saw members congregating at the Amamios to reflect on the Glorious Mysteries led by Jude Amamio. That night’s topic for sharing was “What quality of St Joseph would you like to imitate and why?” A number of good qualities from this beloved saint were shared. In closing, people were exhorted to always pray to St Joseph in order to be closer to the Virgin Mary. A meal was offered by the host family. Members later brought the image to the Provida Residence in Marsden Close, Old Basford – another area within Nottingham North.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20030658.post-63076436950820920432010-10-19T06:08:00.000-07:002010-10-21T01:52:50.944-07:00Arnside Road Members Welcome Pilgrim ImageFrom Bestwood Park, the Pilgrim Image of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was brought to the Mabalot Residence in Arnside Road, Bestwood Estate on October 9. Theirs was the first home in that area to be visited this year. YY Frio handed over the image to Joey Mabalot who also led her family in the Welcome Prayer.

Members once again gathered in that house on October 11 to pray the Rosary which Joey led. During the Reflection and Sharing, participants – especially the male members - offered their thoughts on “How do I pray with the heart?” in line with the theme of the recent Papal Visit to the UK (“Heart Speaks Unto Heart”). “Ina ng Paglaya” was sung to bring to a close the reflection. Copies of the Pope’s Homily during the Beatification Mass for Cardinal Newman were distributed. Right after a hearty meal, the image was moved to the Albanos, whose house is also in Arnside Road. Nidz Albano received the image from Joey.

Another prayer meeting took place on October 13 at the Albanos. Pietro led the Rosary. This was followed by a sharing on “Why do I pray the Rosary”; an appropriate topic since on that date the Church remembers the anniversary of last apparition of Our Lady in Fatima, Portugal. During those apparitions, Mary encouraged people to pray the Rosary. The singing of “On this Day O Beautiful Mother” followed. Meal was served later as a thanksgiving since Chiara Albano turned 25 months that day. This was followed by a procession to the Brioneses, the third house in that road to be visited by the image. Digna Briones welcomed the image.

On October 16, the Briones home was jam packed with people for the recitation of the Rosary which Digna led. “How do I become a witness to Christ?” was the topic for sharing that night in honor of St Lorenzo Ruiz, first Filipino saint who was a martyr and a devotee of the Rosary. Pietro sang a song to St Lorenzo. Copies of prayers to this saint were later distributed. Members sang “Happy Birthday” to Digna whose birthday was held the previous day. Participants were in turn treated to dinner before proceeding to the De Leon’s house in Davies Way.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20030658.post-3210823203833865602010-10-14T05:59:00.000-07:002010-10-16T23:48:42.035-07:00Image Visits Bestwood Park MembersOctober 4 saw FRC members gathering once again at the Lagman and Rapada Residence in Holmewood Crescent to pray the Rosary which Jackie Rapada led. They later reflected on and recited the Prayer of St Francis of Assisi since it was his feast day. Copies of this beautiful prayer were handed out to participants. The image was later transferred to the Tesorero Residence in Belleville Drive where it was accepted by Jun Tesorero in behalf of his family.

Two nights later, members flocked to the house to pray. The reflection that night was on the Battle of Lepanto which was miraculously brought about by the Rosary. After a simple salu-salo courtesy of the Tesoreros, participants drove to the Frio Residence in Beckhampton Road where the image was welcomed by YY Frio.

The group once again gathered to pray the Rosary on October 9. YY Frio led in the recitation; this was followed by a number of participants sharing their insights on “How do I look after my faith?” Leaflets containing a prayer for Blessed John Henry's Canonisation were also distributed in celebration of his feast that day. Dinner was served later before the image was brought to the Mabalots in Arnside Road.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20030658.post-23753807714487849352010-10-10T09:59:00.001-07:002010-10-16T23:41:07.886-07:00FRC Celebrates First Year AnniversaryThe Filipino Rosary Crusade (FRC)-Nottingham North celebrated its First Anniversary last 1st October 2010. A Thanksgiving Mass was offered at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church presided by Fr Paul Newman, Parish Priest. The image of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which will be brought from house to house this month, was placed at the Lady Chapel adorned with flowers.

Right after Mass, the members proceeded to the Lagman and Rapada Residence where the enthronement of the image and the Rosary recitation were done. During the Reflection, members shared how they express their gratitude to God. Juliet Talanay considers the group’s rosary crusade as a thanksgiving to the Lord. Pietro Albano, FRC Coordinator, encouraged everyone to be thankful like Mary.

<img style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 5px 5px 5px 5px; CURSOR: hand" alt="ANLUWAGE.COM" src="http://i56.tinypic.com/2l8u92a.jpg" width"80" border="0"/>Members were later treated to a sumptuous dinner courtesy of Precy Lagman, whose birthday falls on the same date. The FRC anniversary cake’s candle was jointly blown by Precy and Meng Sulit (another birthday celebrant) before the cake was cut and shared by everyone.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20030658.post-18156943272764029762010-01-11T01:01:00.000-08:002010-01-11T01:16:29.628-08:00Anluwage Celebrates 18th Anniversary for Ondoy-Pepeng Victims

To celebrate the 18th foundation anniversary of Tanghalang Anluwage, Inc. Pietro Albano gave a brief talk on the Immaculate Heart of Mary. He said that June 2009-June 2010 is actually The Year of the Two Hearts (of Jesus and Mary) in the Philippines. He differentiated the two hearts: Jesus’ heart shows us what kind of love God has for humanity while Mary’s heart exemplifies what kind of love we should have for God and others. Pietro went further by citing examples of how Mary loved when she accepted to be Jesus’ Mother and when she went out of her way to visit and care for her elderly and pregnant cousin Elizabeth.

Maan De Leon later led in the recitation of the Rosary. Intercessory Prayers followed. Alberto, Archie De Leon’s father who died recently, was specially mentioned.
